Edge and Christian were one of the most popular tag teams of the World Wrestling Federation from 1999-2001. They split 8 years ago, but many fans want them to reunite.

It has been eight years to the day since Edge (Adam Copeland) and Christian (Jason Reso) broke up as a tag team on September 3, 2001, and both have since gone on to have successful singles careers. Yet many fans are anxious to see the two of them reunite as a team, or at least interact in some capacity.

End of the E&C Dynasty

Even though Edge and Christian have barely interacted since their break-up in 2001, wrestling fans have not forgotten about them. Since Christian’s return to WWE in February 2009 after spending a little over three years at Total Nonstop Action wrestling, fans have been speculating over whether or not the former partners will reunite. Both men have been asked in multiple interviews whether or not they wish to reunite, or if they think it will happen.

Edge’s Thoughts on a Reunion

Edge has stated multiple times since Christian’s return that he would be happy to reunite with his scripted brother, or face him as an opponent, and that he hoped it would happen because he believed that fans would want to see them together again. He particularly expressed an interest in reuniting shortly before they retired, to give fans a taste of the past before they hang up the boots.

Christian’s Thoughts on a Reunion

More recently, Christian has stated in an interview with IGN that he would enjoy reuniting with his former partner, and that he also felt it was something the fans would want to see. He noted that with Edge’s Achilles heel injury keeping him out of action for some time into 2010, it was unclear when a reunion might take place, but he hoped that it would happen at some point.

Will Creative Agree to a Reunion?

With both men in agreement over the idea of a reunion, then, it would seem that the only potential hurdle is the creative team of WWE and whether or not they choose to pair the two up again, as well as the necessity of Christian leaving ECW for the same show as Edge. Given the enthusiasm by WWE viewers over such an idea, it would seem like an obvious conclusion to come to eventually.

Edge and Christian have good singles careers (Edge especially has gotten a huge push) and there is no reason why these should not continue. But given the interest shown in the two when they interacted at Backlash this year, as well as chants of “Edge and Christian” by the audience when Edge was teamed with Chris Jericho, it would surely be a waste to not take the opportunity to make money and please the fans.

they HAVE to reunite. it is the only reason i have started watching ww"E" again. the best times were 1999-2001, now its just crap. they need a proper tag team division, and E&C were just awesome, they made me laugh everytime they opened their mouth. they had the hardys, dudleys, too cool, etc as well, the tag team division was awesome. even the singles division with the rock, austin, triple h, etc.

sorry about the rant. E&C forever!
