The Undertaker was last seen wrestling for WWE at WrestleMania 27 on April 3, 2011. He defeated Triple H and kept his WrestleMania streak intact at 19-0. But upon trying to leave the ring, Undertaker collapsed and was carried away on a stretcher. It is still unclear whether this was “kayfabe” (scripted) or legitimate. And Taker is known for taking large stretches of time off after a big event like WrestleMania. So it may be that he will return in the future, if only to make his streak an even 20-0.
The Undertaker’s New Look
Wrestling Inc and other wrestling websites reported that Undertaker had been spotted looking noticeably thinner, and sporting a bald head, a severe contrast to his usual muscular build and long black hair. Some fans have speculated that this means Taker will return as one of his older personas, the American Badass, or Big Evil, when he had short hair then.
The Undertaker’s Many Returns in WWE
The Undertaker has made a career, it seems, out of returning to WWE after a long absence, particularly at various SummerSlam events. SummerSlam 2009 featured one of his biggest returns ever, and fans rejoiced to see the Deadman go after CM Punk in a quest to win the World Heavyweight Championship. At SummerSlam 2010, Undertaker returned to confront Kane, and accused him of attacking him and leaving him in a vegetative state. The Undertaker has yet to properly avenge himself against Kane.
Will The Undertaker Return at WWE Vengeance?
There have been rumors that The Undertaker might return at WWE’s October pay-per-view Vengeance, which WWE itself has spread, according to Ryan Clark of Wrestling Inc. Clark notes that the October 2011 issue of WWE Magazine states that it would make the most sense for Taker to return in October a year after he lost to Kane at Bragging Rights. But there has been no confirmation of this. Six months would be a typical break for Taker, but since he is 46 years old, it is very possible that his career is winding down.
Taker’s returns used to be surprises, but in recent times, as when he and Triple H returned to Raw in February 2011, WWE has taken to promoting Undertaker’s arrivals. This could be because they want to get as many viewers as possible before Taker does finally leave WWE. The hint from WWE Magazine may be an indication that Undertaker will return in the fall, and take his revenge on Kane, which he was unable to do in 2010.
